Influence of Currents on the Breaking Wave Forces Acting on Monopiles over an Impermeable Slope

It is known that the wave breaking process significantly affected by a current, but little attention has been paid to effect of wave–current interaction on forces acting monopile. This study presented total 88 flume tests, among which solitary and regular waves were generated with following current. The propagated over an impermeable slope induced impulsive loads vertical moments monopile measured utilizing high-precision load cell, current velocities peak moment was analyzed. Test results indicate there obvious nonlinear between For waves, accelerated process, leading increase 274.21% at maximum in forces. However, for both heights reversing flow restricted increasing velocity delaying process; under test conditions, pile decreased 65.25% maximum.
